Goal
Build words from the eight-letter rack and try to land your total score exactly on today's target. The round ends the moment your total reaches or passes the target, so the final word decides your precision. In Relaxed mode there's no target — just rack up points at your own pace.
Modes
Pick one before you start:
- 3-minute Challenge. A 3-minute countdown with a target to chase. Speed and instinct matter as much as vocabulary. Round ends when the timer hits zero, when your score reaches or passes the target, or when you tap End round.
- Relaxed mode. No timer, and no target. Take as long as you like to find words. The clock counts up so you can still see how long the round took. Round ends only when you tap End round.
Both modes share today's rack, and either one counts toward your daily streak.
How scoring works
- Each letter has a Scrabble-style value shown in its corner. Common letters (E, A, R, T) are worth 1; rare ones (J, X, Q, Z) worth 8 to 10.
- Word base score equals the sum of its letters' values.
- A length multiplier is applied: 3-letter ×1, 4-letter ×1.5, 5-letter ×2, 6-letter ×3, 7-letter ×4, 8-letter ×5.
- Longer words explode in value: one 7-letter word can outscore six 3-letter words.
Letter-use rules
- Each letter in a word must come from the rack. Each rack tile can be used once per word, then it returns to the rack when you submit, reset, or delete back to it.
- If the rack contains a duplicate letter (e.g. two E's), each one is a separate tile, so you can play words that need both. If the rack has only one A, you can't play "AGAIN".
- Each word you submit must be at least 3 letters long.
- A word can be submitted only once per round.
How to use the interface
- Tap Start Challenge for the 3-minute timed round, or Start Relaxed to play with no timer or target.
- Tap letters in the rack to build a word; each one is added to the "Your word" display under the rack.
- Tap Submit to score the word. Tap Reset to clear the current word, Del to remove just the last letter, or Shuffle to rearrange the rack visually.
- The meter below the buttons shows your total: in Challenge mode the gold tick is the target, the gradient bar is your current score. In Relaxed mode the target tick is hidden.
- Tap End round to lock in early. In Challenge mode the round also ends when the timer hits zero or your score reaches the target.
Worked example
Suppose today's rack is A E O R T S M N (all 1-point letters except M = 3) and the target is 50.
SET (1+1+1) x1 = 3
ROAM (1+1+1+3) x1.5 = 9
TEAMS (1+1+1+3+1) x2 = 14
STREAM (1+1+1+1+1+3) x3 = 24
TOTAL = 50 (bullseye!)
Notice how SET barely contributes; STREAM alone almost gets there. The real strategic question is: do you grab a long word that overshoots, or stack short ones for precision?
Tips
- Look for high-value letters (M, P, B, K, W) and try to use them in long words.
- Mind the gap as you approach the target: the round ends the moment you reach or pass it, so choose a final word that lands you as close as possible.
- Common 5- and 6-letter filler words (STREAM, TRAINS, MOANED, ROAMED) are gold when their letters fit the rack.
