✶ 17 of today's 69 words are rare — they score as bonus points but aren't needed to reach Hive Queen.

Rules

Build words from the seven letters. The yellow centre letter is mandatory — every word must contain it. Letters can be reused.

  • Every word is at least four letters long.
  • Four-letter words score 1 point. Five-letter words and longer score one point per letter.
  • A pangram uses all seven letters and earns a +7 bonus.
  • Climb ten rank tiers from Larva to Hive Queen by accumulating points.
  • Ranks measure you against the day's findable words — commonly known ones plus the pangram. Rare dictionary words (marked when you find one) still score, as a bonus, but aren't needed to reach Hive Queen.

British spellings throughout (colour, centre, organise — not the American forms).

Play together: tap the button under the found list to open a room, then share the code or link with a teammate. Words found on any device land on the same shared board and you climb the ranks as a team.

How to play, with a worked example

What you see

A honeycomb of seven hexagonal letters — one in the middle (highlighted), six around it. Every accepted word must contain the centre letter and use only letters from this set. Letters can be reused as often as you like.

Building a word

  1. Tap letters in the honeycomb to add them to the box at the top, or just type them on your physical keyboard.
  2. Backspace (or the Delete button) removes the last letter.
  3. When you have a word you want to try, press Enter or tap Enter.
  4. Shuffle rearranges the six outer letters — useful when you've stared at the same pattern too long.

What counts

  • The word must be at least 4 letters long.
  • It must include the centre letter.
  • It must use only letters from the honeycomb (repeats are fine).
  • It must be a real British-English word in our dictionary.

Scoring

  • 4-letter word → 1 point.
  • 5-letter word → 5 points.
  • 6-letter word → 6 points. And so on.
  • Pangram: uses all 7 letters → adds an extra 7 points.
  • Aim for the longest words and pangrams to climb fast.

Ranks

Your rank is a percentage of today's findable points — the score available from commonly known words plus the pangram. Obscure dictionary words are excluded from the target (they'd make the top ranks unreachable) but still score as bonus points, so a rare find speeds you up the ladder. The ten tiers are: Larva, Drone, Worker, Forager, Nectar Hunter, Honey Maker, Wax Builder, Royal Guard, Royal Jelly, Hive Queen. Reaching Hive Queen means you've found all the findable points; finding literally every word earns a separate perfect-hive celebration.

Worked example

Suppose the centre is T and the outer letters are A E I O P V C. Examples:

PACT 1 point (4-letter) COAT 1 point OCTAVE 6 points (6-letter) EVICT 5 points (5-letter) COOPTIVE 15 points = 8 letters + 7 pangram bonus
